Inverter Use

Recently bought a used Entegra QWEST and somewhere I saw that the INV should stay ON unless going into long term storage. Can you folks give me advise on INV use? Also wondering if the two batteries in the steps compartment might be one for the engine/chassis and the other for the RV portion?
